DCC Praise & Worship Auditions

This weekend is new, fun and exciting. DCC 2010 will use you - STUDENTS - to lead musical worship. We will use this weekend to select our praise and worship team. This student band will help lead DCC participants to the throne room of the Great I AM.
This responsibility is not to be taken lightly. We are looking for men and women who are committed to musical excellence and a heart that is devoted to be more like Christ. Rory Noland says, "It's time we take stock of where we are all at spiritually and make sure that we are honoring God not only with our gifts but with our lives as well. I think it's time we got just as serious about godly character as we are about our craft or our art." For people to comment first on our intimacy and love relationship with Christ not how good we are.....is the perfect place to be.

Have a skill in music. Psalm 33:3 says, "Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy."
Realize this is not about you and the coolness factor of leading worship. Instead Psalm 115:1 says, " Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory , because of your love and faithfulness."
Can show up on December 30 th by 4 pm in Denver for rehearsals.
Realize that your conference will be a blast, but understand there is a time commitment. Your schedule will be different than ever before. Your schedule will be less flexible than your friends. There may be rehearsals in the mornings, evenings, afternoons, etc. Practice times won't be scheduled until we are on site.
Create a musical sound that is good and right for the conference. Although many times we find people who are musically gifted, their sound does not blend well with the overall tone we are trying to produce; therefore you may not be selected this year. If you are not accepted this year, it does not mean you are not acceptable another year.

Specifics about the weekend ......
We will start Friday night with biblical foundation for the weekend and maybe some praise and worship. On Saturday, we will have a blast praising and worshiping in the context of auditions. Sounds weird, but it is a proven strategy from the last 7 years in Minneapolis and we are excited for you to experience it as well. Then on Saturday evening we will have seminar input and a Q&A time. Sunday morning content is still in question at this time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday will be provided as well as Sunday morning breakfast. You are responsible for transportation to and from your campus. Please bring your sleeping bag, air mattress or blankets and pillow. There are no shower facilities and we will be sleeping in the church both nights.
We are looking for keyboardist, guitarist (acoustic, electric and bass), male and female vocalist, drummers, violin, flute, etc. Please note this weekend is only for those who want to try out for the DCC praise and worship team. DON'T register if you don't meet the qualifications listed above.
